The Health and Care Professions Council is the official regulator of over 180,000 professionals from 13 professions. They were set up to protect the public. They register health professionals who meet certain standards of training, professional skills, behaviour and health.

Do not confuse Chiropodists and Podiatrists with Foot Health Professionals or Foot Health Practitioners.
A Foot Health Practitioner and/or a Foot Health Professional does not have the required level of training or skills to be registered with the official regulator, the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a chiropodist or podiatrist and cannot therefore call themselves chiropodists or podiatrists, or describe their services as chiropody or podiatry.
